Frequently asked questions

What does "certified translation" mean in Ireland?
Ireland has no state register of sworn translators. A certified translation here is one accompanied by a signed Certificate of Accuracy — a declaration from the translator confirming the translation is complete and accurate, with their name, signature, date and contact details.
Will this be accepted by INIS, the Courts Service, my university, or an embassy?
We format and certify documents to the standard these bodies typically expect. We can't guarantee a specific authority's decision, since requirements vary — if you've been given exact instructions, send them with your document and we'll follow them.
Do I need to post the original document?
No — a clear scan or photo is usually enough. If your authority wants the certified translation presented alongside the original, let us know and we'll arrange the delivery to match.
Is "certified" the same as "notarised"?
No. Certification means the Certificate of Accuracy travels with the translation. Notarisation is a separate legal step carried out by a notary public, needed only if your authority specifically asks for it.
What if my document is rejected?
Rare, but if it happens because of an error on our side, we'll correct it at no charge — get in touch and tell us what the authority said.
How fast can you turn this around?
Standard is 2–3 business days; rush is next business day for a 35% surcharge, confirmed at quote stage.
