Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 9 September 2026

How this works

Because every job is quoted individually and often begins as soon as it’s confirmed, refunds and cancellations here work differently to a fixed-price purchase. This page sets out exactly what happens at each stage.

Before work begins

If you cancel after confirming a quote but before we’ve started translating, you owe nothing.

After work has begun

Once translation or review work is underway, cancelling means paying for the work completed to date, calculated pro-rata against the confirmed quote (for example, on word count translated or hours worked at the point of cancellation), rather than the full job fee.

Completed work

Once a translation has been delivered and accepted, it isn’t refundable — the same as any completed professional service. If you believe there’s a genuine quality issue with the work, see “Quality corrections” below rather than requesting a refund.

Quality corrections

If a completed translation contains an error that’s our responsibility — a mistranslation, a missed section, an inconsistency with agreed terminology — tell us and we’ll correct it at no charge. This is a standing commitment on every job, not a time-limited guarantee.

Interpreting bookings

Interpreting is booked for a specific time and place. Cancelling more than 2 business days before the booking incurs no charge. Cancelling within 2 business days of the booking, or a no-show, is charged at the full quoted rate, since the interpreter’s time has been reserved and can’t usually be rebooked at short notice.

Your right to cancel as a consumer

If you’re a private individual (not a business) commissioning a service through this site, EU and Irish consumer law gives you a 14-day right to withdraw from the contract without giving a reason, starting from the day you confirm the quote. Because translation work is often needed urgently and typically begins immediately once confirmed, by asking us to start work before the 14 days are up, you’re expressly requesting that we begin during the withdrawal period. If you then withdraw before the work is complete, you’re liable to pay for the work carried out up to the point you told us you were withdrawing, calculated pro-rata as described above under “After work has begun.” If the job is fully delivered before the 14 days end, at your express request, your right to withdraw ends once delivery is complete.
